The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Master of Science Scholarship Program

Who:   Students under the age of 30 from Comoros, Djibouti, Mauritania, Palestine, Somalia and Yemen wishing to pursue master’s degrees in science and technology subjects, engineering, agriculture and medicine.

What:   Program includes tuition fees, cost of living allowance, health insurance, round-trip airfare, clothing/books, computer and research allowances, as well as a conference participation allowance.

When:   Academic year

Where:   Any university or institution in any of the 56 IDB member countries.

Program length:   Two years.

Deadline to apply:   To be announced (usually January).

Description

The Islamic Development Bank scholarship program is open to promising students in disciplines that enhance development in certain Islamic Development Bank member countries. Students must have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in science and technology subjects and be citizens of an Islamic Development Bank member country.

Students will pursue a two-year master’s degree in an Islamic Development Bank member country institution. In addition, there are three scholarships specifically for the study of statistics and related disciplines such as applied statistics, demography and econometrics. (These applicants must be employed with at least one year’s experience as a statistician in a member country).

Candidates must be nominated by an academic research institution in their country and must return to their countries after completion of the program.
