Aimed at Encouraging Young Males and Females to Enter Hospitality Sector

More than 60 children in the “Kids Competition” at Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2014

School students (young males and females aged 7 to 15 years of age) will be participating at this year’s cycle of DWHC 2014 through the Kids Competition category. This category will be limited to Emirati school students and aimed at attracting and encouraging young male and female students to enter the hospitality sector. Participants are expected to gain skills like hospitality etiquette and cooking while also competing in activities like preparing snacks such as sandwiches, decorate cupcakes and arrange dining tables.

The Kids Competition category aims to teach children on how to be independent and self-reliant while also enhancing their culinary capabilities. About 50 school students from the age of 7 to 15 years will participate in this category. Through this category, we seek to prepare children as they enter into the world of hospitality and learn about its basic principles. DWHC 2014 will be a good opportunity to increase international awareness about an important aspect of our culture and heritage, where participants will prepare Emirati dishes in traditional ways to be judged by a professional jury, and visitors will also have the opportunity to taste these dishes”, said Amena Al Dhaheri, Manager of Emirati Competition at DWHC.

DWHC 2014 will host a number of various competitions such as International Competition, Emirati Competition, Hospitality Sector Competition in addition to Gulf Exhibition and Gulf Competition Products. DWHC is the first event of its kind that celebrates the local heritage of traditional dishes, and highlights the generosity of Emirati hospitality.

The championship aims to educate residents and tourists about the arts and methods of UAE hospitality. The Emirati competition will give locals the opportunity to show their skills in cooking and compete with each other to prepare appetizers and main meals according to local traditions. School students participating in the Kids Competition will have the chance to perform daily competitions.

The 2nd cycle of DWHC 2014 is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai,
from October 30, 2014 to  November 1, 2014.

DWHC 2014 is organized by Za’abeel Palace Hospitality and Dubai Government in collaboration with World Association of Chefs Societies and the Emirates Culinary Guild. The event will feature programs, activities and competitions highlighting the authentic cooking style that represents the true Emirati culture. The championship is designed to introduce the UAE’s culinary traditions on a global level as well as promote the GCC hospitality culture among future generations.

The Dubai World Hospitality Championship will be an interactive platform that will provide visitors with a chance to watch the best cooking displays and activities, as well as witness the massive competition between amateur and professional chefs as they prepare the most delicious and tastiest Emirati and international dishes.
